For the last few years, multiple areas throughout the South, but especially south Louisiana, south Arkansas, and northeast Arkansas, have been in a crisis mode dealing with ALS-resistant weedy rice and grasses. The Provisia® Rice System was developed to address this crisis as well as to extend the life of Clearfield rice. PVL03 offers advantages over earlier Provisia long-grain varieties, with outstanding yield potential, milling and grain appearance. It has both Pi-ta and Pi-ks genes for industry-leading blast resistance. PVL03 gives farmers unmatched ability to control and proactively manage against the development of resistant weedy rice, red rice, and grasses, by planting PVL03 and the Provisia Rice System in rotation with soybeans, Clearfield® rice and conventional rice varieties.

  • This variety has genetic markers for Pi-ta, which confers resistance to the following blast races: IA45, IB1, IB49, IB54, IB45, IH1, IG1, IC17, IE1.

  • 1 Seed/lb is not an exact number; it is an average from multiple samples harvested over a wide geography.
  • 2 Seeding rate is a suggestion based on drill-seeding in ideal conditions and fungicide/insecticide treated seed. Planting non-treated seed is not recommended. Seeding rate should be increased by a minimum of 10 lbs/A when using non-treated seed, planting into a rough seedbed, water-seeding, high-pH soils and soils with salinity issues.
  • 3 Nitrogen rate is a suggested rate based on a two-way split nitrogen application with the first application being applied on dry soil.
